Officiellement disponible avec le noyaux 2.6.28. Le nouveau gestionnaire de fichier ext4 va donc pouvoir être intégré dans nos futur distributions. Qu'en est-il de "Jaunty" ?

As of tomorrow's daily builds of the alternate and server CDs (and soon enough for the desktop CD as well; all the code's in place now but it takes a while for all the builds to trickle down), installation of Ubuntu on ext4 will be supported.
For Ubuntu 9.04, we intend to support ext4, but not make it the default for installation. Based on feedback from that, we will consider whether to make it the default for installations of 9.10. We hope this will satisfy people who want to experiment, while still being appropriately conservative with our users' data!
Pour résumer, il sera possible de choisir le Ext4 lors de l'installation de la version 9.04 d'Ubuntu ( mais l'option par défaut restera ext3). Cette option ne sera proposé par défaut qu'a partir de la version 9.10.
